How and why did you start blogging?
I modeled during college and started out managing social media for a major Southern California fashion retailer after graduating. During this time, I realized my full potential to influence fashion through Instagram. I had a really good feel for the kind of images people are drawn to on social media, and the knowledge I gained inspired me to start posting outfit shots on my personal Instagram. Shortly after the positive response, my friend Michaela pushed me to start a blog. She gifted me a domain as a birthday present in 2015 and the rest is history!
What industry would you be in if you weren’t in fashion?
Probably hospitality. I have a passion for traveling and creating memorable experiences for other people.
What is Foray Collective?
Foray is a website founded by Kaitlynn Carter and Tiana Haraguchi where users can “shop by influencer”. Instead of shopping by model or product images, you shop by fashion blogger’s outfits. Foray also has an agency division, in which we partner brands with influencers to create original, branded content and social media exposure. #FORAYgetaways is my favorite part about working with Foray because it allows me to travel! I handle all #FORAYgetaways, social media and influencer marketing for the company.
Why did you call your blog Something Beachy?
No matter where I am in the world, going to the beach always makes me feel at home. I grew up near Malibu and the ocean is such a big part of my life. I definitely feel it reflects me and my personal style. The idea of Something Beachy is no matter where I go, no matter what I’m wearing, there is always a touch of my California beachy roots.
Top 3 wardrobe staples?
RE/DONE jeans, t-shirt, black pointed toe boots.
Words to live by…
1. Go where you feel most alive.
2. Do things that feed your soul, not your ego and you will be happy.
What are your sizes? How tall are you?
You're always on-the-go + traveling to awesome destinations... how do you balance a healthy lifestyle with so much action?
I was a vegan for the last 5 years and it completely changed my life. I recently started incorporating cooked fish, so now I practice a pescatarian, dairy-free diet. I'm intrigued by the healing powers nutrition can have on the body. When you study what you can and can’t eat, it really just becomes a matter of substituting specific foods. I don’t think twice about it now and I feel happier and healthier than ever! I also LOVE to work out. I think the best way to get motivated is to find a class that works for you. I was doing workouts I didn't like for a while and it was only until recently that I discovered I like Tabata and Kickboxing.
What is your best fashion tip when packing for a trip?
Pick a color scheme and stick to it! Seriously. I pack for each trip with a specific color palette in mind and it saves me a ton of space in my suitcase. It also preps for promising Instagram photos when your clothing compliments the destination.
What's the best career advice you've ever received?
Be genuine, humble, and work hard.
